I did not connect much with Masaba Guptas wedding style as I found it too contemporary and futuristic but the guests attending her reception balanced things out well turning up in the ethnic best outfits. The outfits worn by bollywood guests were tradition with a touch of modernity which is what i expected Masaba to try. But anyway what is done is done and Iam no one to dictate to Masaba as to what she should wear on her important day so here i bring to you details on what the guests wore so you can inspire yourself for the upcoming wedding season.

| Tips for Indian Winter Wedding |
On a dull winter day, attending a winter wedding wearing a saree with sleeveless blouse or a lehenga with low back choli would mean freezing yourself to death and adding a sweater or a woolen shawl to your ethnic look means fashion disaster. But here iam going to guide you into staying fashionably warm and making a style statement without compromising on comfort
Most of the outfit ideas on this post are inspired from Sonam Kapoors Prem Ratan Dhan Payo promotional tour which saw sonam wear high necks and full sleeves . Sonam even gave lessons on stylish layering of ethnic outfits of which I am going to talk in detail in this post.
Choose the fabric carefully : When buying a winter wedding outfit keep an eye on the fabric used and give more preference to thick fabrics like velvet, raw silks , thick Georgette, brocades and skip delicate stuff like net and chiffon unless there is lot of layering and thick lining involved. Fabrics like velvet will keep you warm and also look royal .
I attended a wedding last year where the bride wore a marsala velvet lehenga with double dupatta so If you have always wanted to wear a velvet lehenga this is the time to try it out . Velvets in dark blue, marsala and black all will look great this wedding season. A velvet jacket with silk lehenga or velvet half saree are also good options to try. I also got myself a red and purple velvet chudidaar suit with embellished georgette dupatat which is just perfect for winter weddings.

High necks and full sleeves tend to look a bit mature on young women so take care to keep your make up and hair playful or soft to balance out.
Take inspiration from Sonam Kapoor here on how to dress in long sleeves and high necks.

Ridhi Mehra showcased cape jumpsuits recently and these could be great options for a winter wedding
Shawl it up! : Shawls today arent restricted to grandmothers! Velvet shawls in contrasting colours with embroidery or kundan embellishments are best way to grab eye balls and stay warm too . Take inspiraion from Anushka sharma who wore this mint suit with a red velvet dupatta to a wedding . You can even use a kanjeevaram silk dupatta like a shawl and add to your outfit for some warmth.

| Masaba Gupta's wedding |
She is youthful quirky apparel designer and selecting the same quirky clothes to wear on her wedding was a bad decision from the start. Congratulations to the newly wed but I do wish Masaba had chosen for bridal clothing instead of trying to look different on her own wedding. Many other celebrities in attendance to the wedding celebrations wore better clothes than the bride and bridegroom!

And not the bridegroom won’t be spared either! He should have put in a little extra effort to look good on a reception. Black on black looks dull and its an outfit my brother would have chosen to wear at a family function , forget a reception !
Masaba Gupta In her Own Designs – Bridal Shower Outfit
The outfit looked more of a party look than a bridal shower one. The polka dotted top with a retro effect was a downer itself and the pants look boxy on her. A total nay from us !

Masaba Gupta in Her own designs- Mehendi Outfit
We would have preferred some color for a mehendi outing . The white kurti along with the matchy sharara (or is that a lehenga?) just don’t work here. But it is a nice outfit considering the other disastrous outfits she chose to wear.
What do you think of her clothes, are they fit for a bride ? Yay or a nay? tell us!
Until next time

August was a very long month of hot weather and hard work. The wait for payday stretches out in front of you and the weather sucks to such an extent that you sweat even in air conditioning. Have I made enough excuses for splurging on some new products yet? I did a little bit of travelling in August and the work load seemed to double up once I returned back home! I think now that the month has come to an end it does call for some treats up my sleeve and what better way to celebrate my payday time so I went shopping :D ! ;)
Bags
My first visit was to my beloved Flipkart.com to pick up a sling bag which I was in real need off . I’ll tell you the reason behind the purchase of this sling bag. I added a sling bag on my wish list ever since my previously loved and million times used E20 sling bag’s chain broke off :’( and I had to purchase a replacement asap to subside the pain of losing a fav sling bag :P . I bought this cute sling bag in pink color but the brand Lengloy sent me a damaged product for which I got a replacement in no time. So no complaints here, I am totally loving my new bag buy!
With the sale, and a cheeky extra discount on the Flipkart app I got this spoil baby for just INR 599! *Yay*
Jewelry
My shopping is incomplete if I have not splurged on a beautiful pair of earrings and guess what I ended up buying two of them this time, blame the weather ! ha ! :p
Next I splurged upon some ethnic bling bangles! My favorite ethnic accessory ! The first set of bangles is a box of colorful plastic studded bangles to match with every rain and rainbow outfit of mine :P I already received a dozen compliments while they were on my slim wrists ;) So super yay to them! I bought them from a store in a place called Mohammadi near Lucknow city! Now you know why they are so pretty ! The other set of bangles in light pink and white were just a random buy and I can hardly wait to flaunt them !
Since I indulged in a lot of travelling in August I got the chance to pick up some finest products across the places I travelled. My next purchase was double linked two finger rings in gold and silver. They are a unique set of stretch rings and I can’t wait to flaunt them on a festive event! Every woman should own these pieces of statement jewellery in their style wardrobe!
My last buy in the jewellery sec included a beautiful bow shaped white stone studded hair holder clip from Lucknow ! It was love at first sight for this one. A jeweled hair accessory you are often going to see me flaunting :D
All of the jewellery I bought can be worn separately on simple occasions or even at weddings and parties !
Makeup
It’s the season of chapped lips hence my next purchase was two lip balms from my favorite lip balm brand Nivea ! These two (Pomegranate and Cherry) along with peach are my 3 favorite lip balms from Nivea’s #BFF new range of lip balms (reviews of the lip balms coming up in the next post)! I also bought a Maybelline Cheeky glow blush which was on my wish list from a very long time from now. My next buy in the makeup section was Lakme Shine Line Black Eyeliner from Lakme’s Absolute range. I had heard good reviews about it and bought it on a sale of 25% off on Amazon.in
Hair care
My next purchase was a roots comb as my previous roots comb accidentally broke and I had to replace it with a new one. I also bought a random comb to brush my wet hair after bathing.
Traditional trend accessory: Latkans
My purchases would be incomplete if I din’t splurge on a pair of latkans ! No guessing here, I ended up buying three pairs ! All so beautiful ! You can read more about latkans here.
The month of August was a promising one and I am happy to have shopped for some of the most blingy and lovely things ! Hopefully September turns out to be as good as August !
What about you ? Did you shop to your heart’s content the previous month? temme!
Until Next time
Love
