Friday Fives: Five Ideas to Steal from Nishka Lulla- Dhruv Mehra wedding
July 24, 20150 Comments
Young designer Nishka Lullas destination wedding to Dhruv Mehra was nothing short of a fairy tale. The wedding wardrobe designed by mom Neeta Lulla were all stunning as was the decor and attention to detail all caught via lens of team wedding nama .

Here are 5 ideas we at team blingsparkle want to steal form this exotic wedding

The rickshaw Photo Op : This trend isnt new and we have seen it quiet a few wedding in the recent past but Nishka and Dhruv totally stole the show with their choice of colours. Both dressed in yellow while the rickshaw had bright fun colors to complement with Nishka ki mehendi printed on it .  Perfect Photo Op this rickhshaw go hire one for your wedding and make sure you parade around the mehendi venue with your would be hubby in it .

Brace yourself: Pictures of Nishka Lulla’s stately wedding will make you go green with envy

Quirky Printed Cushions: These super cute cushions with maa ka ladla and papa ki pari printed on it are a must have in every mehendi . These can be easily personalized and look fabulous in photos

Bridal entry in a fuschia pink trail veil: Nishka Lulla had a dream wedding with everything planned to perfection and so was her bridal entry where in  she entered on a shikara in water with a long pink veil with  trail behind her. The ghoongat or the veil idea is my favorite one and i feel every bride should incorporate this in their wedding look as wedding the only time when you get to wear the veil without looking gimmiky .
You may not go to the dramatic lengths of entering on a shikara but you can definitely try the trail veil for your wedding.

5 Simple and Effective DIY Home Remedies to try
December 26, 20140 Comments
It has been a while since a friday five was featured in here but here I am bringing you a beauty and skin care edition of fab fives.

All of us pamper our skin with luxurious skin care products to keep our skin glowing, nourished and beautiful . But these products have an overload of chemicals which is best avoided. Including some inexpensive home made DIY beauty remedies in your beauty regime is always a good idea.
I am big time lazy and Do It  Yourself stuff is just not for me, but ive discovered some very easy and effective remedies which involve easily available stuff from the kitchen. Do try them
Lip scrub :
Brown sugar+ Almond oil + Honey
I mix the three in a spoon and scrub, wash, exfoliating done. Try this once a week and you will never have to buy any lip scrub ever. But make sure almond oil you use is 100% organic. you can even replace almond oil with jojoba oil.
Detan with a Tomato:
This one is the easiest of all. Just slice a tomato and and rub on your face and neck for a good five minutes and done. Do this every second day for a glowing tan free skin. You can top the tomato  slice with a little yoghurt for better results, but that’s a bit too much work for lazy bums like me! Also I am too busy to try this every second day . But this works like charm
Besan Face pack:
This works well for dry skin . Mix almont oil , a pinch of turmeric and besan and apply on face for moisturized skin. Wash off after it is dry (15 minutes or so)
Banana and almond oil hair mask:
Mash up a banana and mix with one tablespoon of almond oil. Massage this mixture into hair , especially the ends  and leave for 30 minutes. Was for smooth soft hair. This mask helps protect natural elasticity of hair and locks in the moisture. I do this in winter.
Condition hair with Warm coconut oil:
This isnt really a DIY as such but I use virgin coconut oil religiously to tame my dry hair. Coconut oil deep conditions and moisturizes hair like no other serum can. I oil my hair with warm coconut oil and leave it overnight for best results. Apart from adding shine and stength to my hair coconut oil also acts like a soothing balm for me relieving stress.
These are real simple DIY remedies I recommend to all. Do try incorporating these in your beauty regime and cut down on pimples.

Stay beautiful

Friday Fives: 5 best looks from Cannes 2014
July 04, 20140 Comments

fives

Cannes is all about galmour and 2014 was not anything different . Indian beauties or L’oreal’s Brand ambassadors to be precise showcased fabulous fashion on the red carpet here is my top five Picks from the event.

Cannes obviously happened weeks back, and don’t ask me why this post comes this late, the only answer obviously is my laziness!

Sonam Kapoor wore a stunner by Anamika khanna at cannes . I loved everything about this look the saree to start with was a great pick, the sleek straight hair, the flawless make up and that choker (just cant get enough of it). This look was a winner all the way, props to sonam for picking indian designer to showcase at an international event .

Sonam Kapoor Anamika Khanna Foxcatcher Premiere Cannes 2014

Aishwarya Rai chose a golden embellished Roberto Cavalli gown to show off her new found curves. Open voluminous hair and bold red lips finished out her look. . To say she looked fabulous would be an understatement , She nails this one tough competition for Sonam.

Cannes 2014: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Roberto Cavalli

This look isnt from the red carpet, it is for chopard dinner and for this Sonam wore Elie saab strapless liliac gown. Chopard necklace and ferregamo clutch finished out this look. Sonam looks relaxed and pretty in this look  and that neck , extra love.

Sonam Kapoor Elie Saab Couture Chopard Party Cannes Film Festival 2014

Aishwarya hosted a event in Armani Privé gown. Chopard earrings, turquoise eyes and bold red lips completed this look. The blue eye makeup aside she looked awesome. But I really did miss colour from Aishwarya this year, wonder why she stuck to neutrals. Pretty predictable pattern for her (neutral+red lips)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Giorgio Armani Prive

Frieda Pinto walked red carpet in Michael Kors gown. The feather detailed gown wasn’t that great but Frieda's wavy hair and lips made all the difference . she looked lovely

Damn! I couldn’t fit in the black Elie saab vintage appearance of sonam kapoor not because it wasn’t that good, I dint want to overload this post with sonam !The black gown look really was fabulous infact this years Cannes run has been best on every front for sonam kapoor

If you ask me to pick one best appearance out of these five I really cant! Both aishwarya (in gold cavalli ) and Sonam kapoor (in anamilka khanna) share the top honours.

Which is your pick as the Top look?

Friday Fives: Five ways to use raw Aloe Vera gel
May 30, 20140 Comments
Another week flies by and her Iam with another edition of Friday Fives. This week it All about Aloe Vera.
Aloe Vera is a miracle plant, it has so many different benefits of beauty and is often used in cosmetics industry. I like to use fresh Aloe Vera gel  directly taken from the leaf of Aloe Vera plant which is potted in my back yard.
DSC00637
Here are five ways in which you can use the raw Aloe Vera gel.
As a moisturizer: Aloe Vera is a great moisturizer, it hydrates , rejuvenates and softens skin. Just apply a layer of raw gel right on to your face and wash off after 15 minutes
Healer for Burns and scars: Aloe Vera helps cure burns because it is calming and cooling. It also helps in reducing scars. My friend had burnt her hand in kitchen pretty badly and she used aloe Vera on her burn, it healed very rapidly.
For Hair: Aloe Vera acts as a great conditioner and seals hair cuticles. Use Aloe Vera gel instead of a conditioner and see your hair glow
As a make up remover : Aloe Vera gel works as a great make up remover. Just drop a little gel on cotton ball and wipe away
For treating acne: Aloe Vera has Anti-bacterial properties which helps in clearing acne. Just apple the gel onto acne twice a day.

Aloe Vera with its many benefits is a great plant to have in your garden. I recommend you get a plant soon.
Btw if you already use Aloe Vera gel in different forms than listed here please mention in comments

XOXO

Friday Fives: 5 ways to use Rose Water
March 14, 20140 Comments
100_5294

100_5292
Rose water has many beauty benefits and the best  thing about it is it suits all skin types. I include rose water in my beauty regime as a toner and love it for its aromatherapy. Here are five ways to use rose water.
As a toner: The cheapest toner out there. Ive already mentioned that I use gulab jal as a toner. it worked better than my lotus herbals toner especially in smell department.
For Under eyes: Rose water helps reduce dark circles and puffiness to a great extent. Refrigerate rose water and dip cotton balls in cold rose water and gently dab under eyes.
For hair care: Rose water can be used to wash hair as it acts as a natural conditioner and leaves hair with a mild fragrance.
As a cleanser: Rose water acts as natural cleanser removing dirt from face and tightening pores at the same time.
As a face freshener: Spray rose water on face to instantly feel fresh and add glow . This is especially helpful in summer.

So, to sum it up, Rose water is a boon from every angle!
