What To Wear To Your Sangeet ~ Indian Bridal Wear
May 14, 20150 Comments
Sangeet is one the functions that none of the brides like to miss. According to 95% brides, sangeet and Cocktail are the two most fun functions of an Indian wedding. Sangeet is all about keeping aside all your worries and nervousness for a day and simply dancing and enjoying the moment.

It demands the most fun, carefree and comfortable outfit. When you are choosing your sangeet keep three things in mind:

1>> Choose a light outfit: We are not asking you to quit all the bling but just keep it minimal. Make sure the outfit is light weight and manageable because sangeet is usually before the actual wedding day and you don't want to tire yourself before the big day. Besides, you'll have to dance which will be impossible with a heavy outfit and the chances are you won't have much fun. So, choose a LIGHT WEIGHT dress.

2>> Choose something flowy and flared: There's nothing which looks more prettier than a flowy outfit while you are dancing! :)

3>> Choose the right accessories: Let whatever you wear be light weight. Skip the necklace, go for signature earrings. A jhoomar/ mang tika on the head will add a dramatic, chic look!

Here are some style inspirations for your Sangeet:
This is what the Divas Diya Mirza, Genelia and Amala Paul wore for their own Sangeets. I loved Genelia's outfit the most! Dia Mirza made a statement by choosing a not so sought out colour ~ blue. She looked beautiful! What Amala wore is the majority of Indian brides' favourite ~ Classic gold, it can never go wrong! Genelia's dupatta drape was fabulous!
Floor length Anarkalis are the most sought out outfits by Indian brides today. They have something about them which is simply irresistible. Even if you wear minimal jewelry these floor length Anarkalis transform you into a classic vision.
For brides who would like to choose a more western look, the above are great choices! Even if you are choosing western wear, the key is to opt for something elegant, minimalist in bling and flowy/flared.
The above are real brides whom I came across Pinterest. The colors they have chosen are a treat to the eyes. The hairstyles are superb too!
These are the Sangeet collection outfits by renowned designers featured by models walking the ramp. All of them are pure gorgeous! The first and last one are my personal favs! The centre ones are quite unique and totally appropriate for a sangeet too!

The 'RockOn' director wore a cream bandhgala jacket with kurta payjamas while the bride wore a printed Varun Bahl Lehenga with gold jewellery. I love how the couple co-ordinate each others outfit without overdoing it.
It was a surprise to see a bride go bling free and wear a printed lehenga on her D day . Pragya i must say carries this look nicely but her jhoomar makes things a little crowded but ofcourse she is THE bride. If you really want to wear heavy jewellery then going printed is the right thing to do.
Pragya also gives lessons of how the bride can rock the cream or white colour . Adding a contrast dupatta is the right way to go.
Our best wishes to the couple.

Bridal Banter: Lehenga v/s Gown
August 02, 20140 Comments

It really is a matter of personal choice as to what a girl wants to wear for her wedding reception. There are a plethora of options to choose from, a lehenga, a sari, a gown, an anarkali or the very recent fusion sari gown . But most brides choose a Lehengas and flared gowns for their wedding receptions and so here I debate what could be a better option.

Lehengas are more traditional while the gowns are more of a western concept, so I feel indian brides should opt for a lehenga rather than a gown. I mean think of it, Your wedding is the only one time where you can go over the top with everything and don a royale lehenga.

Moreover lehengas suit indian body types more than gowns and it would be a real tough task for you find a gown which suits your body type, is heavily embellished (you don’t want to look under dressed on ur Dday) plus looks elegant. Where as finding your dream lehenga wouldn’t be such a difficult task with so much variety available there all suiting indian body types.

Gown arent a complete No, infact many celebrity brides have worn a gown for their wedding. Amala Paul and genelia wore a gown but both of them wore a gown for their Church weddings and later even they ended up wearing a lehenga for reception. As for Ahana Deol, she was a lucky girl to have two receptions one in mumbai where she wore a lehenga and one in delhi where she opted for a gown.

Gowns make for a great choice if you are having a church wedding otherwise I feel indian girls should stick to Lehengas for wedding receptions. Ahana deol’s gown looks very cindrellaish and with her chuda it looks very mismatched and not too granduer. She looks more like a guest than a bride.

If you really want to include a gown in your wedding trousseau I suggest you wear one on your engagement and not on your reception.

What do you feel? Can gowns work well on brides for a wedding reception?
