Who Wore What: Masaba Gupta-Madhu Mantena Wedding Reception
December 05, 20150 Comments
Quirky Designer Masaba tied knot to producer Madhu mantena and the reception was grand affair with many bollywood celebrities in attendance. Masabas complete wedding looks and style have already been discussed about on our blog here and in this post we will focus on what the guests wore.

I did not connect much with Masaba Guptas wedding style as I found it too contemporary and futuristic but the guests attending her reception balanced things out well turning up in the ethnic best outfits. The outfits worn by bollywood guests were tradition with a touch of modernity which is what i expected Masaba to try. But anyway what is done is done and Iam no one to dictate to Masaba as to what she should wear on her important day so here i bring to you details on what the guests wore so you can inspire yourself for the upcoming wedding season.

Dia Mirza:
Let me start off with Dia Mirza who was a picture of elegance in bright and festive Sabyasachi Sharara. Such a bright red colour would make you give competition to the bride but Dia styled it right by adding muted gold jewels and subtle make up to keep things simple . I so wish Masaba had opted for something similar for her special day instead of awkwardly placed tissue bits!

Kangana Ranaut showed just how exactly to rock the angelic white colour at indian weddings. She wore a white Abu Jaini sandeep khosla lace saree paired with silver clutch and added colour to the look with red lips and red louboutins.  The retro hair and the blouse added to her elegant look . Super Love .

Alia Bhat also wore a white Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for the reception, but hers was a sharara with a touch of pink. Alia kept things simple by accessorizing her look with just a pair of earrings. The outfit was good but I felt it had fit issues and make Alia look a bit mature and aged. .

Mira Rajput looked amazingly gorgeous in her sheer Arpita Mehta saree. The colour looked great on Mira and she finished out the look with a necklace, earrings and gold clutch. The best thing about this look was the make up, Mira looked so natural and confident and made a perfect pair with Shahid kapoor . Love .

Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor attended the wedding reception together and decided to color co -ordinate their outfits. They both wore Anamika Khanna cream outfits in contemporary silhouettes. Rhea wore  floor length cape over dhoti pants and top while Sonam wore a draped top with lehenga . I like that this duo try different things and experiment but here it did not work also the make up let them down. Love both the neck pieces though.

Aditi Rao Hydari wore black surendri shahrara which featured parrot prints. Gold earrings, a modernized version of hath phool and red lips completed her look. I dont have anything against wearing black to a wedding but i personally would never wear it myself. What are your thoughts on wearing black to Indian weddings?

Athiya Shetty opted for a Rohit Bal lehenga , but what made the look different was her peplum top . She also skipped the dupatta and added a potli and earrings to the look while the hair was half pinned. The look was interesting but the peplum top made Athiya look a little pregnant, I think pregnant women should try out this style to mask their tummy bumps .

Sophie Choudary went the traditional route in this Anita dongre lehenga which she paired with big earrings and gajra in hair. (PS : this was for the sangeet )

Whose look did you like best at this wedding?

Wedding Inspiration: Sonam Kapoor looks her Ethnic best at PRDP Promotions
November 22, 20150 Comments
In character movie promotions are very common these days and you can spot almost every bollywood celebrity dressed in character at  promotional events. No one does fashion and and in character promotions better than Sonam Kapoor and for her recently released blockbuster Prem Ratan Dhan Payo sonam kapoor was seen in  a series of ethnic looks at promotional events.

The film which also stars Salman Khan has sonam kapoor playing the role of a indian princess and this means we get to see sonam kapoor delight us in traditional ethnic looks both on screen and offscreen . Here we put  together her best ethnic looks for brides to take inspiration from. Be it mehendi or sangeet Sonam kapoor  threw in a perfect look for every occasion as she promoted her movie. Even for non brides this post will serve as inspiration to dress up in style for the upcoming wedding season .

In a Rohit bal Ensemble featuring an anarkali with slit and white lehenga sonam pormoted her movie at a  jewelry store. Red lips , middle parted hair and gold earrings finished out this look.  Personally i think the hair and make up was too severe here. The outfit was interesting and i would have loved a softer updo .
Where to wear: Your sangeet , twirl around in this ensemble and it will look fabulous, just make sure you leave your hair open and wear heels

At the success bash of PRDP Sonam was spotted in a biege Anavila handwoven saree with metallic borders. Silver jewellery from Amarapalli , middle parted hair and soft make up finished out this look. A crop top paired with a non traditional saree drape, trust sonam to mix things up and churn out hatke looks. The dull saree was well elevated with oxidised jewellery and iam totally loving this simple but different ethnic look.
Where to wear: This is a very versatile look and can be replicated on several wedding dos including friends wedding or your own reception if your want to play subtle and experimental . Id would suggest this combination of crop top with the off beat drape for your mehendi , would look fresh and fun

Jackets over sarees are an in thing these days but sonam kapoor tok things a notch higher by turning up in Rahul Mishra anarkali type pastel blue coat over saree. This can be a very tricky look to pull off but if you have it you go for it!
Where to wear: To the next winter wedding you attend! Stay comfortably warm without compromising on style and you will definitely grab some eyeballs with this look

In a floor length red Gaurang Anarkali with a contrast green dupatta sonam kapoor looked gorgeous . I Love the addition of chand Bali earrings here and the make up for perfect too . Side swept hair and gold juttis finished out this breezy look on Sonam kapoor. The styling here is just PERFECTION but i wish the anarkali had a better fit.
Where to wear: To your relatives wedding  or Mehendi

A chirpy yellow suit paired with silver jootis spells comfort . This is something i would wear without thinking twice.
Where to wear:  Flaunt this look at the next summer wedding you attend but make sure you add a pair of  huge jhumkas and contrasting glass or metallic bangles to make it more wedding appropriate.

A Regal Green Anamika Khanna lehenga for promotions at big boss . Pairing an ornate lehenga with a cropped and collored front buttoned blouse sonam added a rajwada beck piece to complete the look. I felt this look was incomplete without the dupatta .
Where to wear: If you want to replicate this one then definitely add a cream or gold dupatta. The emerald green is an amazingly rich colour and can be worn for your own reception or sangeet

A biege Shantanu and nikhil lehenga with asymmetrical cut high neck choli looked amazing on sonam kapoor . I dont really like the colour but this is refreshing change from blinged out lehengas we see these days. The silver accesories were just perfect with this lookand the middle parted bun blended in well .
Where to wear: your sangeet or your friends wedding but make sure the event isnt in summer! i have no idea why sonam is obsessed with full sleeeves all through her promotions

Sonam is credited as being a Fashionista and trying looks which are different with a lot of edginess and that is exactly what sonam does in this payal khandwala outfit. A banarsi lehenga paired with contemporary cut out cape top paired with pearl choker , tikka and studs Sonam gives lesson on how to do fusion wear right.

Where to wear: If you want to blend in traditional with contemporary the dramatic way for any of you pre wedding events try this.

Pink Anju Modi lehenga with cream and teal dupattas made for a fun and feminine look on sonam kapoor. The cut out at the back of the blouse add the required edge. The make up for crisp and the accessories blended in well
Where to wear: To your wedding, reception or even sangeet ! Just play with the dupatta drape to suit the occasion

White for an indian wedding? trust sonam to inspire you into it! This pure white payal pratap saree was pure elegance . I of course would pair this saree with a different blouse but love the styling, the pop of turquose via the necklace and earrings and soft hairdo  .

Where to wear: This is an ethreal look to experiment with at someones wedding. This will also look great on bride or grooms mom .

Sonam Kapoor Payal Pratap Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Did you enjoy the ethnic looks from sonam kapoor during PRDP promotions? I have to say that all these looks felt a bit too much just for movie promotions and i am waiting to see what sonam kapoor will end up wearing when she gets married!

Sabyasachi Mukherjee does Dark and Gothic at Amazon India Couture Week 2015
August 04, 20150 Comments
The Amazon India Couture week (AICW) just concluded and iam here to give you all the ethnic fashion updates in detail .

The sixth edition of  AICW 2015 was opened by Sabyasachi with his Bater collection . The whole collection was dark, moody and intense but the real highlight of the show was the collaboration between Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Chritain Louboutin. I say that because the clothes werent really my cup of tea . The dull greys, black lipsticks, blues and browns were enough to get my spirits down but thankfully there was a splash of bright rich reds to up my mood.

This collection is for the bold , rebel indian bride who wants to experiment crazy . There was not too much of volume in the collection meaning you will really have to work on your body if you want to wear pieces from here. There were arm revealing blouses, bustiers and deep V neck Jackets , if you have the body and you are willing to do sensual then go for it. And ofcourse get set to see a lot of this on B Town celebs as they walk down the red carpet.

When it came to accessories , now that was another tale to tell. The spiked head bands, louboutin shoes, spiked clutches , Major love for them all.

This outfit was something i actually like from the collection but please pay more attention to the clutch. Ooh la la!

The rickshaw Photo Op : This trend isnt new and we have seen it quiet a few wedding in the recent past but Nishka and Dhruv totally stole the show with their choice of colours. Both dressed in yellow while the rickshaw had bright fun colors to complement with Nishka ki mehendi printed on it .  Perfect Photo Op this rickhshaw go hire one for your wedding and make sure you parade around the mehendi venue with your would be hubby in it .

Bridal entry in a fuschia pink trail veil: Nishka Lulla had a dream wedding with everything planned to perfection and so was her bridal entry where in  she entered on a shikara in water with a long pink veil with  trail behind her. The ghoongat or the veil idea is my favorite one and i feel every bride should incorporate this in their wedding look as wedding the only time when you get to wear the veil without looking gimmiky .
You may not go to the dramatic lengths of entering on a shikara but you can definitely try the trail veil for your wedding.
