10 Bridal Outfits In Pantone Colours Of The Year 2016
December 17, 20150 Comments
Pantone the colour company announces the “Color of the Year” every year. For the Year 2015 it was deep earthy Red Marsala and this year for the first time Pantone chose not one but two shades  i.e Rose Quartz & Serenity .
The 2016 PANTONE Color of the Year
Pantone colours of the year2016
Rose Quartz is baby pink and Serenity is kind of icy powder blue with a hint of liliac or you can just say baby blue. Pantone is of the opinion that when Joined together these two shades Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.

Pastels are my all time favorites and both these colours Rose Quartz & Serenity have a  pastel vibe to them which has me excited. These colours are already very popular with designers like Jyotsna tiwari, Tarun tahiliani, Anushree Reddy and Shantanu and Nikhil in 2015 fashion weeks and if you are wondering how to wear this colour duo then well the new bollywood ki Bahurani Mira Rajput shows you the way .

Mira wore pale pink aka Rose quartz Anamika Khanna lehenga on her wedding day and carried it off with amazing grace . Her dazzling smile , navratna haar and right amount of bling in the outfit made this look a classy Bridal winner. When wearing pale colours like serinity or rose quartz make sure you add right amount of bling and colour to make it wedding appropriate.

Here I bring to you 10 Bridal outfits straight from the runway . Go brides embrace the colour trends!

The Ultimate Guide to Style up for an Indian Winter Wedding
November 25, 20150 Comments
Tips for Indian Winter Wedding
Winter hasn't exactly arrived in Bangalore, it is cold and weepy and wet. You can call it Bangalore delayed rainy season but it is already beginning to get cold over most other parts of India and so I came up with this pretty warm idea of putting together a style guide for Indian winter weddings .

On a dull winter day, attending a winter wedding wearing a saree with sleeveless blouse or a lehenga with low back choli would mean freezing yourself to death and adding a sweater or a woolen shawl to your ethnic look means fashion disaster. But here iam going to guide you into staying fashionably warm and making a style statement without compromising on comfort

Most of the outfit ideas on this post are inspired from Sonam Kapoors Prem Ratan Dhan Payo promotional tour which saw sonam wear high necks and full sleeves . Sonam even gave lessons on stylish layering of ethnic outfits of which I am going to talk in detail in this post.

Choose the fabric carefully : When buying a winter wedding outfit keep an eye on the fabric used and give more preference to thick fabrics like velvet, raw silks , thick Georgette, brocades and skip delicate stuff like net and chiffon unless there is lot of layering and thick lining involved. Fabrics like velvet will keep you warm and also look royal .
I attended a wedding last year where the bride wore a marsala velvet lehenga with double dupatta  so If you have always wanted to wear a velvet lehenga this is the time to try it out . Velvets in dark blue, marsala and black all will look great this wedding season. A velvet jacket with silk lehenga or velvet half saree are also good options to try. I also got myself a red and purple velvet chudidaar suit with embellished georgette dupatat which is just perfect for winter weddings.
Indian winter bridal wear
Embrace High necks and long sleeves : It makes no sense to wear sleeveless cholis or strapless blouses in winters. Go in for a regal or a royal look and opt for high embellished necks and long sleeves. India's top designers like Sabyasachi are churning out high neck , long sleeve leghengas and blouses whhich are the perfect way to dress up for winter weddings. If your high necks are not embellished then add in a neck piece over your blouse . You can even layer jewelry as winter is the best time to flaunt your accesories without sweating out even a bit.
High necks and full sleeves tend to look a bit mature on young women so take care to keep your make up and hair playful or soft to balance out.
Take inspiration from Sonam Kapoor here on how to dress in long sleeves and high necks.
Indian Bridal wear
Go for Jacket or cape ensembles : Jackets and capes with ethnic wear are the latest trend and the best time to rock it is in winter . Pair a long jacket with your saree or a short phulkari jacket with your anarkali. Even your sarees can be layered up with a classy phulkari jackets to give you a layered regal look. Capes can be a tricky deal but who doesnt want to follow the latest trends? Skip the sheer capes and opt for embellished ones to go with your outfits. Floor length capes are also a big thing these days, try some color blocking with silk capes for a comfortable and trendy ethnic look.
Ridhi Mehra showcased cape jumpsuits recently and these could be great options for a winter wedding

Shawl it up! : Shawls today arent restricted to grandmothers!  Velvet shawls in contrasting colours with embroidery or kundan embellishments are best way to grab eye balls and stay warm too .  Take inspiraion from Anushka sharma who wore this mint suit with a red velvet dupatta to a wedding . You can even use a kanjeevaram silk dupatta like a shawl and add to your outfit for some warmth.

Indian bridal wear
Play with hemlines:  High necks and covering up means you cant experiment much with your  necklines in winter so to add a slight edge to your outfit experiment with hemlines. Go for asymmetrical hemline anarkalis, high low salwars kammez or ruffled lehengas and peplum blouses.
Indian bridal wear
Opt for Jutis: When it comes to footwear avoid open toe heels and bring out your traditional warm embellished juttis which will keep you warm while blending in with your ethnic look. You can even go in for booties to keep yourself warm if you are sure they wont show up too much under your floor length lehenga.
Indian bridal wear
Thermal leggings or camisoles: If it very cold you can wear thermal leggings under your lehengas to keep you warm but make sure these are of 3/4 th length so they don't show up . If your top isn't deep cut add a thermal camisole too .

I hope this post helps you style up for a winter wedding , please do leave your comments if you need help implementing any of the above ideas

September 23, 20150 Comments
Lakme Fashion week Winter / festive 2015 concluded ages ago (20 days to be precise ) but that doesnt stop me from compiling a list of the best of bridal couture showcased on the runaway .

There was a lot of ethnic bridal styles presented on the ramp and my favourites Anuhree Reddy , Ridhi Mehra, Arpita Mehta and Payal Singhal all has some generous doses of  festive ethnic wear sprikled in their collection which got me all excited. Apart from the usual designers i always turn to, designers like Neeta Lulla, Abu Jaini sandeep khosla and divya reddy also showcased creations which caught my interest. So without ranting more here i present to you my absolute ethnic favorites from Lakme Fashion week Winter/ Festive 2015.

Neeta Lulla :

Tailor made for the contemporary bride Neeta Lulla's collection was a delightful treat to eyes with lace, bling, pastels and chiffon. Ive already covered the entire collection in a separate post here  . Love how this pastel saree comes together with that blouse.

Arpita mehta : The mirror work from Arpita Mehta iam always a fan off but her lehengas were mostly in black which isnt considered too auspicious in India

This creation i just loved. Capes are totally in and now wear them even with your chudidaar suit. Love the colour, cut, work on sleeves and ofcourse the cape

Ridhi mehra : I loved every piece from Ridhi Mehras collection but not everything was bridal stuff . Here are the selected few which i thought were wedding appropriate.

Signature shoulder floral detailing goes huge , the colour pops and the top design is super funky.Grab this for your mehendi i say!

Marsala is the pantone colour of the year and Ridhi Mehra brings you lehengas in just that colour! I love the floral detailing and the drape.

Love this lehenga in which Amy jackson walked for her . (The entire collection is covered here)

Divya Reddy did pastels and had amazing detailing on borders in her collection. There was too much of yellow in her collection giving me mehendi or haldi kind of vibes.

This mint lehenga with mirror work is just amazing. Love it, especially the blouse.

This gown in white and beige with chikankari work and subtle bling is sheer beauty.
